Review of World Trade Center (2006) by Julien B — 24 May 2009
I had already seen this film, but I had totally forgotten about it. And that's not a good sign to begin with.
Stone's movie on the painful subject that is 9/11 is not about 9/11, it's about how people lived that day. Although it is not a total disaster, the movie suffers from mediocre acting, bad editing and the total lack of sense. The viewer feels there is -or are- a lots of meta-allegories in this film; but Stone does not push the analysis deep enough. But well, the point of this whole thing is to tell the story of true american heroes, and also end on a note of hope, which is still needed, 5 -or should I say 8- years into the aftermath.. and counting. And Stone achieves just that.
