Review of World Trade Center (2006) by Marty F — 26 May 2009
The feelings you have about 9/11 are not the feelings this film creates, but the feelings that re-occur from the memories within yourself after you/ we saw what has happened. As terrible as everything was, this film is not more than just average even given this potentially good cast and great director.
I guess Stone was too careful not to show anything wrong or to portray a false picture of the events that took place during this day. So he "just" wanted to show the heroism behind the entire rescue mission.
I remember there werent too many great actors available for this, because the topic was too hot and they were afraid of bad publicity. So, Nicolas Cage also has more of a unspectacular supporting role rather than a real main actor lead with a complex role behind it.
Overall, nice to watch to bring back the memories, but not Academy Award caliber.
