Review of World Trade Center (2006) by Paul P — 22 Dec 2009
Playing against expectations, Stone's 9/11 movie has a very specific focus on the lives of the Port Authority Cops on duty. What can't be denied is that there are some powerful moments within this film, however as a whole it doesn't deliver what it shoild.
The opening sequences of the film are very effective as events unfold. The uncertainty about what had happened is played out superbly. Unfortunately the scenes that follow are not able to live up to this. Although this is the case, the closing scenes are very good and provide a fitting tribute to the people who lost their lives.
Overall, this is a very well made but uneven film from Stone.
