Review of World Trade Center (2006) by Don S — 08 Jul 2011
I wasn't sure I was ready to watch this film. That infamous day in 2001 lives in my psyche still. I have worn an American flag pin on my work uniform every day since then (I have since added a cross pin as well).
This movie experience was not as hard to sit through as I expected. I was worried for nothing. Oliver Stone directs a film that tackles the subject on a human level, not a political or national level, by focusing on the lives of a squad of Port Authority Police Department members who are used to working the bus station.
They get the call to help evacuate the Twin Towers just after the first plane hits. We are treated to the anguish they feel at not knowing what is happening and still trying to do their job just the same.
The film is emotional and brings back memories of what you were doing when you first heard/saw the news. Above average acting and a compelling story. Worth a look.
