Review of World Trade Center (2006) by Andrew W — 28 Dec 2010
Nicholas Cage moaning under two tons of rock for two hours: reciepe for disaster? Oliver Stone masterfully avoids the foreseeable ho-hum of turning the 9/11 tragedy in just another disaster movie. I do not think anyone else could have pulled it off.
The actors deliver solid performances, and I really liked the fact that this movie focused on victims (the police officer arrived too late to save anybody and we trapped when the towers fell), rather than heroes.
The film gives you a first-hand feel of what it might have been like at ground zero, but the awkwardness rapidly fades away once the credits roll, which is unfortunate.
