Review of Woodstock (1970) by Zbyn?K S — 03 Feb 2012
One of the great documentaries, WOODSTOCK captures in epic scope and piercing detail both the actual realities of the event and the birthing of the legends that would make it the ultimate rock concert.
We get to see through the dense weaving of footage an energy that manages to invigorate the film without detracting from the complex sociological and political machinations that informed and infused the hippie movement.
Oh, and the performance sequences - which created cliches that can still be found today - are so stunning, they made the legend grow that much faster.
