Review of Won't Back Down (2014) by Barbara A — 27 Sep 2012
The paid critics are correct that the principal actors deliver strong performances. Most of their critical commentary beyond that is blatantly biased. Like Norma Rae, this is a powerful account of the real life struggle of "little" parents trying fight with "big" powerful teachers unions.
The anecdotes all come from real life. Yet the critics consensus is if the film's criticism is against a union instead of corporate American is a bad story??? It makes you rethink the question: WHY did the Foreign Press Assoc.
award Waiting For Superman with BEST documentary and the American Film Academy never even nominated it ?!?!? This is a well told story that ALL parents with children in the public education system should see.
