Review of Won't Back Down (2014) by Sylvia O — 03 Oct 2012
As a parent I know we are all fierce advocates for our children so that they get the best education they can get that we don't need the dramatization of Maggie Gyllenhaal with her tattoed breasts to tell us 'hey let's close down' a school and open another one that's better for the sake of our children.
This melodramatic movie is not convincing and does not represent the real struggles of parents and students, it is merely a right-wing, corporate ensemble to brain-wash the mainstream that even parents can take it upon themselves to close schools in their communities instead of being empowered to demand that their current schools in their communities succeed and provide the best education for the children in them.
That's what parents should be fighting for that schools and children who need it get the support they require, closing down a school to open up a charter is not the answer and I'm disappointed that this cast failed to see it.
I guess they are so far removed from real life that they're also the 1% who just doesn't get it and does not represent the interest of the rest of us. ROTTEN FOR SURE!!
