Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by A.j. L — 15 Mar 2018
A true game changer for the superhero genre. Like Marvel's Black Panther, this handled minority representation in a great way. Gal Gadot was a powerful Diana Prince, and should inspire young and adult females across the globe.
Chris Pine was a witty and lovable Steve Trevor. The supporting characters were alright, and helped move the story well. However, my only real problems with the film are the villains. I simply can't take Ares seriously knowing under that badass helmet that he has a Nigel Thornberry style stache.
Ludendorff and Dr Poison were just mediocre, war-crazed partners. The final battle sequence was very strange, in the way that I didn't think there was a need to have WW sail into the sky and utilize the power of her father (Zeus).
Besides that, this is a fantastic superhero film that redeems many of the DCEU's shortcomings. 10/10.
