Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Stu F — 11 Jun 2017
I am an unapologetic Marvel movie fan who wants disparately to be an unapologetic DC movie fan, but alas DC has been a struggle to appreciate.
That is until now....
Long Live Diana of Themyscira! What a wonderful character, and a wonderfully executed story: Kudos to Patty Jenkins, a surer hand at the tiller could not have been found. Diana's growth from innocence to hero was beautifully choreographed. Gadot and Pine's chemistry doesn't sizzle as much as it synergizes. They were both terrific.
Just as Downey, Hemsworth and Evens embody their characters, Gal Gadot truly delivers a sympathetic and passionate, champion for all mankind. She IS Wonder Woman!
There are so many moments in this film that will make re-watching an absolute joy. It is by all accounts one of the best super hero origin stories ever put on film.
My personal top 5 origin stories.
Iron Man.
Wonder Woman.
Thor.
Captain America.
Batman Begins.
