Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Ann B — 13 Jun 2017
To sum up Wonder Woman: "It's a paradise, and it's a war zone." -zayn.
The over-saturated superhero genre is BLESSED by this movie. Jenkins directs an empowering film, inflicting the same excitement as other wartime/superhero flicks yet somehow reserving time to be tender, raw and human in its depiction of WW1.
Gadot's refined and stoical acting seems to fit her role to a T, passing as elegance and the untouchable nature of the Amazonian princess Diana. Chris Pine is great!
Wonder Woman truly takes time to be heartfelt (not to be muddled by the overzealous CGI scenes). The feminist message plays out wonderfully and manifests itself in a GODDESS figure. The "love," and "folly of mankind," themes do feel a tad forced (although NOT without a genuine, heartfelt story). AH! I loved it.
