Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Bradley J — 08 Jun 2017
The refreshingly subtle but powerful feminist superhero film, people have been waiting for. Wonder Woman is dynamite as a superhero film, bucking the formula that has leaked into many a Marvel film, DC understands that this is an origin story, and as such need not be predictable.
I will say the film becomes bogged down by excessive characters and complex villainy that doesn't all reveal itself clearly to the audience, but the film absolutely delivers in glorious female powered spectacle, but remains lovingly unfussy about it.
It may not be marvelous film making, but the pure delight in seeing a film driven completely by women on and off camera. Rating: 83.
