Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Warren C — 10 Jun 2017
I was looking forward to Wonderwoman like a hole in the head. ANOTHER superhero movie, and THIS one where the hero is a GIRL! Bah!
But....it's fantastic! And mainly due to Gal Gadot. She embodies Wonderwoman wonderfully! Her performance is full and earnest and charming. You cannot help but start to fall in love with her character's purity and courage (and her smile melts the heart).
The plot is also meaningful and engages the grey matter in pondering the nature of mankind and our worthiness.
Chris Pine pulls off a good representation of the good that lies within humanity, his character basically a vehicle for this premise for Wonderwoman to consider as the movie unfolds.
The action and combat scenes are very well done and the cgi is great quality. The cinematography is also well considered and good use is made of extreme close-ups of actions and parts of the body in movement which contribute to a comic-like style storytelling of this fable.
The soundtrack is powerful and cool and the consistent moments of bravery and resolution that Gal Gadot assigns to her character had the hairs standing up on the back of my neck more than once. She has managed to portray an undeniably strong, charismatic and powerful superhero, more than a match for Batman, Superman...or any other man for that matter! An amazing and kick-ass debut for this new D.C warrior!
