Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Barewarrior — 05 Jun 2017

Wonder Woman is objectively speaking, a mediocre film with wooden characters, nonsensical special effects, plot-holes galore, with every Hollywood cliche imaginable. From a purely critical perspective, Wonder Woman shouldn't be rated anything higher than 5/10. This film however deserves a much lower score due to it's decadent and highly destructive message.

First thing to notice, is the black and white portrayal of men and women. The film portrays men as incompetent dumb creatures who have been corrupted by the main antagonist, while portraying women as the highest model of virtue and front line infantry in existence. Next, you may have noticed the black and white portrayal between traditional western civilization and a Utopian feminist society.The film appropriates the military of the German Empire as a group of bloodthirsty beasts that are hellbent on destroying the world just for the sake of it. Among the films antagonists is the German General Erich Ludendorff turned "super-nazi" who wants to gas the entire world! The film also portrays the ethnically homogeneous society of WWI Britain as one that is dark, gritty, and is oppressive as possible. This movie would lead you to believe that the men of London back then were sleazy, overtly misogynistic barbarians. Meanwhile, the homeland of our protagonist is a multicultural society of women warriors, whose existence is one based on order, honor and perfection.

What Wonder Woman idealizes though is in complete conflict with reality. It is a reality that Hollywood wishes to rewrite, and portray in the darkest possible terms. The reality is, that both sides of WWI were composed of some of the most honorable men in human history. These men experienced unimaginable horrors and died by the millions, to defend their women, their children and their nation. Instead of fighting in the war, their women have pursued the equally honorable duty of motherhood, and have left behind a legacy that has brought the greatest advancements to humanity. It is among other things, these honorable principles which western society was founded upon that have elevated the west to be a society of innovation, justice, law and greatness. The worst thing about this film, is that it undermines these principles and tries to replace them with an unattainable, unnatural, and Utopian ideal. Because of the ideas propagated in this film, the descendants of the great men and women that have founded western civilization are refusing to reproduce. If this persists, the west will be condemned to the pages of history. Many believe, me being one of them, that Hollywood is a corrupter of our society, ruled by a tribe of elitists hellbent on destroying western civilization. It is films such as Wonder Woman that affirm our beliefs.
