Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Dharma — 01 Jun 2017
After 3 critically lambasted flicks films, the DC Extended universe finally found a winner. Wonder Woman is a great film that reminds me a lot of Batman Begins: essentially, a wonderful beginning to the character, buoyed by a strong performance by Gal Gadot and her other supporting actors /actresses.
Seeing her on screen is reminiscent of seeing the late Christoper Reeve as Superman back in 1979. She exudes both warmth and fierceness at the same time; an actress truly born to play this role. Having a female director also helps, creating a 'feminine' tone so different from any other comic book films out there.
Is it the best? Obviously not, as Wonder Woman, like any comic book origin story, has to go through the same 'trials and tribulations' which we have seen so many times in the last decade or so. But it's a great start to the franchise and a life saver for the DC Extended Universe.
