Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Ginak — 04 Jun 2017
I have never read a Marvel comic, but I enjoyed this film because it was beautifully acted and directed. Who else but skillful actresses like Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright could make Amazons believable, and Gal Gadot is a great find – totally warm, appealing, and convincing as she matured in the film without being distractingly sexual, even in skimpy costumes.
Chris Pine was also wonderful as were Danny Huston and David Thewlis. But the real credit must go to the director who kept things moving yet made an interesting film for many different audiences that had plenty of action and spectacle without being empty-hearted or empty-headed.
Patty Jenkins’ direction was a real triumph, although not unexpected from the director of a great film like Monster that deservedly made Charlize Theron a star.
