Review of Wonder Woman (2017) by Bertoflyingfox — 02 Jun 2017

I would peg this movie at slightly below average. It starts off pretty well, but then devolved throughout its runtime (which I feel could've shaved off 20-30 minutes). Feels like they had to adhere to Snyder-isms of nonsensical slow-motion, flat "jokes", villains filled with exposition, and dialogue that was put together by two kids playing with toys (and remembering their favorite scenes from Captain America).

It seems they had a clause where Wonder Woman can't ever be shown being challenged or even hurt. Soldiers come straight from the Star Wars school of People Who Can't Aim Good, conveniently shooting at WW's bracelets or shield and nowhere else.

Besides that, The lead did a passable job at playing Wonder Woman, but the silhouette just wasnt there. Her lithe form makes the action look really awkward and the costume doesnt seem to fit her well.

Then the 3rd act comes in and everything goes from bad to worse. Bad CGI, throw-away villains, and nonsensical quick cuts.

Besides that can we all collectively tell the DCEU to stop including bombs/missiles in their final acts? TDKR has an atomic bomb scene, BvS has an atomic bomb scene, this has a deadly missile scene (atomic bombs didnt exist in WW1). Please help them think of better endings or Justice League will involve TWO atomic bombs that Aquaman and The Flash have to send somewhere and sacrifice themselves in the process. Yeesh, my kingdom for an original 3rd act in these hero fluff pieces.
