Wonder Woman is another comic based movie from the struggling DC brand, which desperately needs a homerun. DC has struggled to get off the ground ever since Nolen and Bale left the scene with their cape and camera in tow. Aside from their dynamic duo, DC really has not had a stellar hit to compare with Marvel. Green Lantern's ring could not hold a charge for the audience in 2011. In 2013, Man of Steel flew through the skies ripping apart his hometown and Metropolis while dealing with, what seemed like a moody angst of a teenager.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Man of Steel. Henry Cavill is by far the best option, in my opinion to play Superman ever. DC just needs to reign in the moodiness and destruction more to match Superman's persona and character. In 2016, Batman V. Superman was expected to be the linchpin to launch the DCEU and prep the world for Justice League. Yet, it failed to impress audiences despite raking in over $873.3 million. Likewise, Suicide Squad also failed to impress while pulling in another $745 million.

Where a billionaire playboy, alien, and a team of misfits failed would a gorgeous Amazonian Goddess be enough to wow the audience? Yes. It seemed that everyone wanted the Wonder Woman team to fail. Maybe it was a sexist thing. Maybe they couldn't stand that a female superhero film directed by a female might stand a chance to do what others could not? No matter. Wonder Woman portrayed by Gal Gadot delivered on every aspect.

The chemistry between Gadot and Pine was perfect. They flowed from one scene to the next as if they had worked together on other films before. And as you would expect from Wonder Woman, she showed compassion and love for all the others around her, despite what her fellow companions said. Wonder Woman has always been a symbol of love in the DC comics and with her being a Goddess, Jenkins' take on her learning how to love, from a human in Chris Pine's character Steve Trevor was a new and refreshing take.

What Wonder Woman possessed that Man of Steel, Batman V. Superman, and Suicide Squad did not, was simply put; a lighter mood. The film was less gloom and doom, despite the fact there was a war they were dealing with, you still had a good mixture of comedy as well as a Goddess trying to learn how to live among humans. You also had the romance chemistry between Steve Trevor and Wonder Woman. I have to give Chris Pine props here, nerds everywhere are saluting him! He has to be the King of the nerds, because he is not only the Captain of the Enterprise but he also became Wonder Woman's boyfriend. Mad props!!

If you are looking for a fun movie that is also clean for the kids, Wonder Woman is a shoe in!! It delivers heavily on the action, has good comedic timing, and the character development was great as well. Wonder Woman is all around a superb movie and the homerun DC needed in preparation for Justice League. Now everyone may be looking forward to seeing Justice League rather than with trepidation. My family and I are extremely excited!! We all gave Wonder Woman a 5/5.
