Review of Wonder Woman (2009) by Rocky S — 09 Mar 2009
Wonder Woman has always been one of the more interesting characters of the DC Universe being female yet fulfilling a stereotypically "male" role in terms of being a super hero plus the rich universe she lives in. What can I say? I'm a sucker for Greek mythology.
This latest venture of DC Comics in the direct-to-DVD movie market was definitely an enjoyable movie to watch, to say the least. It had all the elements that make Wonder Woman such a fun character without needing to drag in the entire Justice League in order to "support" her character - not that she needs the help all that much.
It's a pretty fun update to her origin story and the film makes sure we don't forget that the Amazons are really a band of warrior women and not just a bunch of pretty girls on an island. If DC keeps this up, I'm definitely going to want to continue to follow their animated films in the years to come.
