Oh Woody, Woody, Woody! Give it up! RETIRE already! I just tried to watch Woody Allen's film from last year, WONDER WHEEL and boy oh boy does it stink...and by stink , I mean like a large pile of rotting fish.
He, as usual, has assembled a very fine cast: Kate Winslet, Justin Timberlake, Jim Belushi and Juno Temple. These talented actors work so hard to make this tired and horrifically written film, work. WONDER WHEEL contains some of the worst film dialogue I've heard in a LONG, LONG time.
The poor actors try desperately to breathe life in this bad retread of a plot but it's been done to death. They desperately struggle to make the stilted dialogue sound natural but the are fighting a loosing battle.
Woody, you haven't made a good film since Blue Jasmine and, unfortunately before Blue Jasmine you gave us several other real stinkers (and I'm being kind.).
How can such putrid sophomoric crap come form the man who gave us ANNIE HALL, STARDUST MEMORIES, ZELIG, BROADWAY DANNY ROSE, BULLETS OVER BROADWAY and BLUE JASMINE?
The real shame is that WONDER WHEEL looks GORGEOUS! The amazing Italian Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro's Ravishing cinematography is completely wasted on this piece of spoiled tripe!
I'll say it again.....Woody Allen PLEASE, PLEASE RETIRE!
