Review of Wonder Boys (2000) by Juliana H — 04 Mar 2008
Douglas is a disheveled believable mess - a walking heartbreak of broken dreams and literary promise. Downey's character is a charming and opportunistic book editor with a devilish glint in his eyes.
A warm, funny movie with rich characters trying to recapture that elusive zest for life.
Maguire, all sexually confused and damaged, is the embodiment of this for both Douglas and Downey...but meaning something entirely different to each. A freakin joy to watch.
