Review of Wonder Boys (2000) by Rainer K — 30 Jul 2011
I hate it when endings ruin otherwise great films.
Wonder Boys is the perfect example for such an occurence. Brilliant performances by most of the cast (especially Douglas, Maguire and Downey jr) and a screenplay that's just fantastic - it has some of the best dialogue I've ever seen/heard.
The mood is perfectly captured as well. Director Curtis Hanson shows how to direct these amazing dialogues I was writing about and also accomplished to make a Pittsburgh campus look like Ivy League.
Wouldn't it be for the end - Wonder Boys would be one of my all-time favourites.
