Review of Wonder Boys (2000) by Andres A — 06 Nov 2007
A fantastic comedy about a washed-up pothead writer who daylights as an english professor (michael douglas) who's having an affair with the chair of his department's wife (francis mcdormand) who might be pregnant with his child while trying to avoid having an affair with an attractive, young, talented student of his who happens to rent a room in his house (katie holmes).
he's also trying to avoid his editor (robert downey, jr.) whose career depends on extracting the mess of a manuscript of the book that's supposed to cement his reputation as an author (but won't) and complicates matters by trying to pick up a superhumanly depressed student (tobey maguire) who happens to have just shot the chair of the english department's blind boxer, poe.
comedy ensues.
