Review of Wonder Boys (2000) by David G — 16 Jan 2008
One of the best movies about writers ever. Right up there with Barton Fink. A stella cast have a lot of fun. Douglas is inspired. Robert Downey Jr as the struggling gay publisher is a hoot. Tobey is the perfect awkward ingenue scribe.
Frances Mc Dormand is her consistently brilliant self. And Katie Holmes is hot. A witty script that both satirises and pays tribute to the college lit scene. Pittsburgh looks cold, wet and you almost want to move there.
And the Dylan tracks are a great soundtrack. It is indeed a wonder.
