Review of Wonder (2017) by Najd G — 01 Apr 2018
I got a lot more than I expected here in the way of multi-dimensional characters, which alleviated a lot of the pressure on Auggie, the hero of the story. My biggest complaint though is that too many storylines went unresolved, including a couple plot pieces that were nearly at their apexes - namely Via's relationship with Justin, and Julian's moral development. This would've worked so much better as a TV series.
Also, why cast a handsome boy in the role of a disfigured child? There are no shortage of children with facial abnormalities who would've loved to have gotten (what is likely to be) the only role they'd ever achieve.
