Review of Women in Love (1969) by Jeff B — 09 Feb 2013
Very British, but oddly compelling, there were parts that probably would have been better on stage than on film. This was only my second Glenda Jackson film I've seen, and to be honest, I didn't see much here that wowed me like "give her an Oscar", in fact, I was much more impressed with her work in Marat/Sade.
I thougt Alan Bates was the real talent here, he was my favorite of the four leads. Yes, the wrestling match with Bates and Reed was very impressive, the music and cinematography really was great, but I also loved the scene with Bates describing the fig.
I guess it needs multiple viewings to let it all in, but overall it was a good film.
