Review of Womb (2010) by Rachel V — 13 Mar 2012
Oh my, this one deals with some heavy questions and will certainly rise a lot of controversy if it manages to get on the radar of certain "well-meaning" groups in our society. However, I doubt it will happen, mostly because of its spartan... well, pretty much everything. Story, dialogue, camera work, even the colors are drab and sparse. Because of that, "The Womb" is destined to become yet another obscure "art movie" very few people will bother to watch.
Maybe it's for the best, because this is definitely not a movie for your average Joe Lowbrow. At the same time it's a bit of a shame that "The Womb" won't get the attention it deserves. Behind its self-inflicted dullness and flirtation with the controversial topic of incest hide some very interesting questions about human morality and risks/possibilities offered by modern science. So if you are able to look past the unattractive exterior of "The Womb", are able to handle the instinctive knee-jerk reaction of revulsion it will probably cause in you and are interested topics I mention above, "Womb" is something you may consider having a look at..
