Review of Woman of the Year (1942) by Sarah M — 28 Dec 2009
I'd seen later Tracy/Hepburn pairings but this - being the first - was the only one where I found Spencer Tracy particularly appealing.
It's difficult for women who want to have it all, and it can also be difficult for the men in their lives. Marriage isn't easy, and requires work and compromise, and having a wedding that lasts more than 10 minutes and where all parties are listening and paying attention helps.
I would have liked to see more of their story. We get to see the decision to improve compromise and communication, but we don't actually get to see how that plays out and whether all parties actually compromise and whether that makes them happy.
