Review of Woman of Straw (1964) by Dave M — 14 Oct 2009
Acquired a copy recently. It's not been released on DVD.
Grew up with this film so a bit of a trip back to see how it looks now.
I guess Ralph Richardson's character is just a bit too unbelievable, and his treatment of his servants is probably the reason why this title is conveniently forgotten. Connery is just in Bond mode when we know how good he really is. Lollobrigida just undresses down to underwear at every opportunity - this is not a criticism.
Still, it's entertaining, only the Spain sequences age the film.
