Review of Woman in the Dunes (1964) by Low B — 20 Sep 2007
Wow this is one deep meditation on meaningful existence, situated within the symbolism of a sand pit. Teshigahara's mise-en-scene captures the imagery of shifting sands in Abe's book perfectly.
It also serves as a strong indicator of Abe's disillusionment with the Japanese Communist Party.
