Review of Woman in the Dunes (1964) by Ian S — 12 Jun 2008
An extraordinary film from Hiroshi Teshigahara about a man who becomes a prisoner in a house at the bottom of a deep sandpit and is forced to perform an impossible task alongside the titular woman in the dunes.
The direction and acting are incredible and the musical score is haunting. This is probably my favorite Japanese film ever.
