Review of Woman in the Dunes (1964) by Stephen M — 22 Jan 2009
Beautifully detailed, this is definitely one of my favourite films of all time. I love all de extreme close-ups of sand, skin and insects, and the cinematography, just perfect. the story reminds me of becket and maybe cortazar and auster, with a character that finds himself in an absurd and desperate situation.
I love all the metaphors of the caged person and the caged insects. but the protagonist is definitely the sand, with its beauty, its moves and its power. this film is a must for any lover of beauty and good storytelling.
I could watch this over and over again.
