Review of Woman in the Dunes (1964) by Thomas B — 24 May 2009
Loses a star because at times, it is painfully tedious. However, I imagine living at the bottom of an inescapable sand dune gets pretty tedious in itself, so points? Luckily, KÅ?bÅ? Abe wrote the screenplay (as well as the original novel), so the film translates well for those who read the book.
Teshigahara does an excellent job with this story, and there are so many amazing frames in this film, it would be hard to pick any favorite scene. Worth the effort to find, well worth the time it takes to watch.
