Review of Woman in the Dunes (1964) by Carl S — 11 Jun 2009
A fascinatingly allegorical movie about a Japanese bug collector who becomes caught, or collected, by a village of sand people. He rages against his captivity until the day he has the freedom to escape, and he chooses to stay.
The movie is just loaded with allegories: the sand as life, captivity as freedom, etc.
