Review of Woman in Gold (2015) by Jessica F — 08 Jul 2015
I can't really understand why this film has been treated so dismissively. To anyone with the slightest acquaintance with the cultured Jewish life that was (almost) extinguished by the Nazis in Europe, but re-surfaced in America, this film is an outstanding period piece.
Little kiddies should be lined up in front of it to understand history! First, however, they will need to have remedial instruction in high European culture, including Schubert, Mozart and Sehoenberg (quoted in the film).
Today, in 2015, we have forgotten what we lost! Thanks to this film for bringing it back.
