Review of Woman in Gold (2015) by Caleb M — 14 Feb 2017
I'm not sure why there was so much hate for this movie, but my wife and I genuinely enjoyed it. Mirren and Reynolds, as well as all the supporting cast, brought a spectacular performance to a powerful plot.
The history of the Woman in Gold painting is a fascinating one, and I feel like this movie captured it perfectly. All the haters for this movie must enjoy the simplistic movies we now see in the theaters like Star Wars sequels and Fast and Furious sequels.
Instead of enjoying the beauty of an ACTUAL real-life experience, and also revisiting the many tragedies and adversities that the Jewish people of Vienna had to go through in the past, people need to see a movie with more action and violence than the last movie they saw with a lot of action and violence.
This movie told a valuable and influencing story and should not have received the criticism it did. Movies like this don't come often, so it's a pleasure to witness one when it does.
