Review of Wolf Creek (2005) by Matthew G — 12 Sep 2008
Not as bad as I thought it would be, but there is no real point or lasting message to this film. It's like Open Water meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a slightly shameless attempt to fill the cinemas.
To it's credit the suspense is effective and the realism works to great effect. However, it's portrayal of women as being pretty much utterly helpless and vulnerable won't go down well with some, in that sense it's pretty way off tack.
Give me a female heroine anyday.
