Review of Wolf Creek (2005) by Jess L — 06 Feb 2013
This is one movie I can safely say I will never watch again - because it scared the absolute shit out of me.
Beautifully filmed in a dark unobtrusive style, this film captures the Australian outback in both a positive and negative light. The scenery is amazing and the remoteness makes for both a breathtaking location and a terrifying ordeal.
The three young leads are fantastic, believable portrayals of backpackers caught up in a terrifying situation, their fear is contagious. The real star of this film however is Jarret who is an absolute legend. He embodies the crazed bushman in an unforgettable and chilling way. His laugh creeps down your spine and lingers in you memory long after viewing this film.
The film evoked a lot of feelings in me while watching it, most of which was pure terror, which is why I will never view this again but appreciate it immensely for drawing out these reactions in me.
A subtle mind fuck turn grotesque slasher that stays with you for a painfully long time. Incredible.
