Review of Witness for the Prosecution (1957) by Samuel S — 22 Jun 2007
The plot keeps you hooked throughout twisting and turning to the point that you trust no-one. Dietrich hams it up as the eponymous ice queen and tyrone power the likeable defendant. But it is Charles Laughton's barrister who steals the show with his coffee flask of brandy and cane-full of cigars ignoring doctor's orders to defend the case of his career.
The worst moment is the final one when you realise the rollercoaster ride is truly over. Sublime.
