Review of Witness for the Prosecution (1957) by Kathleen D — 29 Oct 2009
Charles Laughton was one of those actors whom I like to put under the "Huggy Bear" category. There was something very warm, pleasant and comforting about his presence on screen, yet something so commanding.
He delivered his lines smoothly and effortless, I was totally fixated. This is my second Marlene Dietrich movie. She was an odd one, wasn't she? She proved to be more than a pretty face in this film (although her beauty is not one I'm naturally drawn to, it kind of weirds me out).
The ending, nice touch...and umm...Great film overall! Not my favourite from Billy Wilder, but I bought the DVD before I had the chance to watch it, so that shows how much I trust this certain director's work.
