Review of Witness (1985) by Brad B — 19 Jan 2009
This is a marvelous little film, truly a timeless classic in it's own right.Wonderful twist to the modern police corruption crime drama with Harrison Ford playing the part of the department whistle blower forced to hide out among the Amish when a murder he is investigating leads him right back to his superiors.
One of the biggest reasons this film succeeds so well is the wonderful and respectful treatment of the Amish. Sure it's an old vehicle to put a character in another culture and then have fun with it. This film never ever makes pokes fun at the Amish for a cheap laffs and all the humor that does flow in this film occurs naturally and never comes off as cheap and forced. There is really a ton of respect sensitivity in this film.
Good stroy, well paced and even in the quietest moments never slow! It holds up very well to repeated viewings!
