(1985) Witness.
DRAMA/ THRILLER.
There was a time when people who were oblivious about Amish people because of their lack of exposure to the world and there refusal to keep up with current times, which they still live with their old ways of handling things one that well known of course is to avoid using any electricity what-so-ever!! I have to say that this was the first film to show audiences what it was like living with the Amish in the most harmless and exagerated way. Just by using the story of getting some very bad men chasing the hero Harrison Ford, resorting him with no other option except to hide amongst Amish county (which in actuality would be too far- fetch) and that the purpose for this was really a backdrop to show viewers what it was like living like the Amish. Director Peter Weir could have turned this into a boring documentary but instead provided a small exciting storyline into the Amish peoples systematic boring lives!! These days, now their are more and more documentaries made about Amish county, that with a little excitment this film has shown can make their boring lives more interesting to watch!!
