Review of Witness (1985) by Brandon K — 20 Jun 2011
One of the best films of 1985 along with "Color Purple", and "Back to the Future". I really mean that and I'm not gonna make this anymore longer. Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis's romance and chemistry is just terrific, and beyond very different to any romantic characters that I know in most films.
First of all, we proceed first to the plot then to the romance and those Amish people. As we know, it's about a young boy who witness a murder, and the Ford character is a police detective who helped the kid and his mother about this, and the 3 of them went back to Philadelphia and there we go, the real and actual movie starts.
As we also learned here is how and who and what these Amish people are, it's just brilliant to learn and understand from these group of people. But wait, what about the crime? It feels like we forgot about it but trust me, it's gonna be more entertaining than you would ever thought it would be.
The reason why the Ford and McGillis characters are really perfect to each other is because their characters seems to be in a deep trouble, the woman is a widow and the detective is being hunted, so it makes sense.
I cannot think of any film that I've seen before about a murder with a character study/romance, this is the first one and still it did really work well. And at least the film has a big lesson for us audiences, it is about these people who makes decisions and not sure if it is right or wrong, so does the kid, it's not he told to Ford about who are the killers, but also he thinks being a good Samaritan is rewardable, still they got into big trouble.
If you still have some more questions about this movie, then go see it now, you would probably get bored most of the time but I assume it is not that very boring or non-sense picture. And again "Witness", is a great film, great performances, great story/romance, great direction, well everything is great so this is a great film indeed, and again no disappointing beginning and ending, and every questions are answered here.
