Review of Withnail & I (1987) by Kirsty W — 28 Feb 2009
It has been a long, long time since I have had the pleasure of watching this movie. When the old farmhouse that much of this film took place in was up for sale, I had to see it again.
The plot is slim and the budget small, but the result--hilarious! I remember always quoting this movie and now I will have to brush off a few of them and bring them back into my repertoire. The funniest thing about this movie is, it wasn't meant to be funny. It just is. I loved Ralph Brown as Danny the Drug Dealer. "They're selling hippie wigs in Woolworth's, man. The greatest decade in the history of mankind is coming to an end, and as Presuming Ed here has so consistently pointed out, we have failed to paint it black." Even arriving 15 days after they were gone this movies makes me miss the 60's.
