Review of Withnail & I (1987) by Liam U — 22 May 2011
Some very funny scenes, Richard E. Grant steals the show by bringing an infectious manic glee to his character. Paul McGann is also decent, and witnessing their two characters stumble through the world can be incredibly funny at times. However, the pacing is slightly mismatched and the ending very weak. Some of the secondary characters are quite humorous, with dialogue playing a very important role in the humour being so successful.
Second viewing - there are scenes of hilarity, but there are also scenes of pure tedium. It's good, but it's flawed.
