Review of Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell (2001) by Arjan A — 03 Aug 2005

Wishmaster was a good film. It had its ups and down. Even though the film was quite entertaining and the deats were very gruesome, the film also had lots of flaws. Even when people didn't really make wishes, the Dijinn, who is the wishmaster or genie, would do something. The power of the Dijinn wasn't really described. I didn't know if he could kill people on his own , or how wishes totally worked.

Wishmaster 2 was much better than the first film. All the flaws which were in the first film were gone in this sequel. The Wishmaster or Dijinn is cooler and the plot is much better. Wishmaster 2 also was mostly about the wishmaster/Dijinn rather than the female lead. I found this entry to be arguably the best and much better than its predeccesor.

Wishmaster 3 was total crap. The Dijinn sucked. This film is definetely the most gory of them all. The kills are very disgusting. The plot is just a rehash of the first film. The film feels like it has no plot. This film is the one you should skip from the Wishmaster series. It doesn't move the series any further and its a waste of time.

Wishmaster: The Prophecy Fulfilled is very good. This film can also be argued as the best in the series. The problem with this entry is that there is little horror. Even though the first half has some chills, this film has more plot and story than anything. The film also has its share of gore and nasty kills. This story is about the Dijinn and the Dijinn's feelings and interaction with humans. In this film, the Dijinn isn't totally bad like in the other films. This film is more of a action/horror. The main character in this film is the best from all the films. I felt that this was really the only Wishmaster where the viewer actually cares about the characters, for that reason only it is a superior entry into the franchise.
