Review of Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies (1999) by Leo K — 28 Feb 2009
This film is part awesome part awful toss. The amazing bits features the Djinn demon in prison and some amazingly funny lines and the sight of what happens after one man expresses the wish that his lawyer should 'go fuck himself'. That was amazing.
Also there's the heroine. At the beginning of the movie she is possibly one of the hottest things I've ever seen. I was considering lauching myself at the screen despite the obvious electrical risks. Then it gets all christian-y on us and she makes herself 'pure' to fight the djinn dude by removing her piercings, doing her hair much more ordinarily, making out with her priest friend even though her much loved bf only got murdered aboot half an hour ago and dressing in a boring manner.
Aside from some excellent gore moments which save the film from being a shit fest, there's some right cobblers after that. The bits with the 'priest' who looks like the main male star in a playboy tv film and the sanitised heroine with her new pure/boring self are so tedious it's like someone's opened your head and started to deficate into it. Overall mixed with some equally awesome and shit bits. Nowhere near as classy as the original.
