Review of Wishmaster (1997) by Ryan K — 28 Aug 2010

For 1997:

One of my favorite horror flicks as a kid!

Lots of effective scares, terrifying imagery and good gore.

The Wishmaster himself is badass and the ultimate villain.

Theres a good number of smart cameo actors too from other horror pictures.

The message is also very tempting: having a genie grant any wish you desire even if it costs you your soul.

The special effects are nice and add to the movie's grotesquery.

I love Tammy Lauren in the lead role, she's finely depicted as a strong heroine learing from her teaching skills to thwart off the ultimate source of evil.

Sure its a bad film, but not so much that you cant enjoy it for the coherence of the genre and it's originality.
