Review of Wish Upon (2017) by Lenard W — 21 Jul 2017
Wish Upon is a kind of insignificant horror film. Every twist is telegraphed well ahead of time if you pay attention. Although I had to wait way too long for one death scene. A dumpster diving father, who seems to have no other source of income except collecting relics people throw away (I never once saw him sell something he found), gives his daughter a Chinese wish box.
It grants seven wishes, but each wish comes at the price of a loved one's life. Petty vengeance leads to the death of the family dog. Popularity at the expense of her true friend. Eventually our hero gets back what she really wanted, but our "demon" wants blood in a final act.
