Review of Wish I Was Here (2014) by Michael R — 13 Jul 2014
As a spiritual successor to Garden State, Braff's writing has seriously matured to deliver a truthful tale of the struggles of adult life and parenthood. It might not leave us anymore insightful than when we started watching, but it will at least give comfort in the idea that it's ok if we never really figure out life.
The only off bits from the film come at times in which Braff's attempts at philosophizing fall short, and instead make great trailer fodder with no extended resolution; however, these moments are rare and the overall mood of the movie make them easy to overlook.
